I worked with my client, Place Creative Company, to rebrand Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity, or CVOEO. This non-profit was challenged by a confusing name, several different service offerings, a broad geographic reach, and a vast mission and scope not easily put into words.
Our first step was to define the non-profit's mission and purpose by creating a "Brand Manifesto". After two days of brainstorming, Q&A, collaboration and research, I produced this concise, one-page distillation of CVOEO's essence.
I've done several Brand Manifestos for Place Creative (who are, by the way, masters of visual branding). These documents serve as the touchstone for all future marketing and communications efforts. They're statements that people can rally around.
CVOEO Brand Manifesto
At CVOEO, our work is not just a job, but a mission. We take on the voices of those we serve, speaking out for them, advocating for them, and providing compassionate, practical help. And even as we’re solving immediate, pressing problems every day, we’re also finding ways to break the cycle of poverty, and provide hope for the future by creating opportunities.
While many are familiar with our well-known initiatives such as Headstart and the Foodshelf, CVOEO is much bigger than our individual programs alone. To us, true service means harnessing the full strength of our combined resources and varied programs, and doing whatever we can to help. Whether we’re assisting a single mother struggling to feed her children, guiding a young family to better housing options, or providing relief to a victim of domestic abuse, we are there.
We never look away.
We empower Vermonters by educating and offering choices. We serve people on the front lines, addressing economic, social and racial injustice. While our programs help many low income Vermonters, CVOEO’s services cut across all income levels and demographics. We speak to and catalyze those who are in a position to change laws and policy. We are not just Vermont’s super-agency for social services; we are a vital part of the State’s landscape, empowering and serving Vermonters – and changing lives.
